BCSC considering keeping board meetings at administration building

COLUMBUS, Ind. — During a typical school year, the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. board rotates the locations of its board meetings, holding them at different district schools throughout the year.

However, at Monday’s school board meeting, Superintendent Jim Roberts suggested that, through at least the end of 2020, the school board should continue to host its meetings in the Terrace Room of the administration building, rather than rotate locations.

“Because of us trying to make these board meetings more accessible to the public through virtual means, video, we are able to maintain the environment here a little better from that standpoint,” he said. “And then, with all the challenges of COVID-19, I’m not sure we need to add additional challenges to our buildings.”

At the board’s next meeting on Aug. 24, Roberts will make a formal recommendation to hold school board meetings in the Terrace Room through the end of the 2020 calendar year, as well as the beginning of January (as that will be when the board holds its reorganization meeting).
