CFD at full staffing after adding firefighter

Seth Burton

The Columbus Fire Department has hired Seth Burton as its newest firefighter.

Burton, 25, was sworn in by Columbus Mayor James Lienhoop at Tuesday’s Columbus Board of Public Works and Safety meeting at city hall. He joins CFD after three years of firefighting experience with the Columbus Township Fire Department in Bartholomew County.

His certifications include: Indiana Firefighter I and II, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Rope Rescue Technician, Confined Space Technician, Vehicle Extrication Technician, and Fire Instructor.

Burton, a 2013 Columbus North grad, will undergo a fire department familiarization training program. After completing this training, Burton will receive a shift and station assignment.

With the hiring of Burton, CFD is at full staffing.
