BCSC to continue in-person classes as of today’s COVID-19 metrics

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. students are cleared to continue with in-person learning for next week.

The news came Thursday, when COVID-19 Community Task Force released an update on its indicators regarding community spread.

These indicators are intended to guide the school corporation on whether or not schools can continue to meet for in-person learning, which began Aug. 10.

Whether or not in-person learning continues at BCSC depends whether certain COVID-19 data indicates that the school system is in a “minimal,” “moderate” or “substantial” spread category. Superintendent Jim Roberts has said in the past that an overall designation of substantial spread would result in a move to eLearning.

While the task force did not state an overall designation on its website, it said that for the week of Aug. 24, “In-person instruction will continue, in addition to BRIDGE and Columbus Virtual Pathway programs.”
