COLUMBUS, Ind. — Superintendent Jim Roberts said Friday that the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. has counted eight positive cases of COVID-19 from individuals in seven of its 21 school buildings. Two cases are from the administration building. The other cases are from the Busy Bees Academy Pre-K program, Columbus Signature Academy New Tech, Columbus East High School, Columbus North High School, Parkside Elementary School and W. D. Richards Elementary School.

Roberts added that the school system if students and staff members who are learning or working online test positive, they are also included in this count of positive cases.

On Thursday, Roberts said that of those eight cases that have been identified, only two were actually in school around other individuals, causing the need for BCSC contact tracing. Nine individuals were identified as “close contacts” of those two individuals based on seating charts, bus charts or other information about extended periods of time the individuals may have been near them, Roberts said. Close contacts may also refer to the individuals’ family members, including siblings.
Today, Roberts said that 125 individuals from BCSC have been quarantined due to exposure to COVIE-19 cases outside of the school system and its buildings.
