Bartholomew County’s School Supply Assistance Project had provided free school supplies to 2,135 students so far in the school year with registration still coming in.

County commissioners announced their intention to move the county probation department into the Elks Lodge building on Third Street, a building the county purchased for $250,000.

Telephones in the police and sheriff’s departments, as well as offices in the county courthouse, were knocked out for several hours when a bulldozer broke an underground cable casing in the proposed “super block” area between Jackson and Washington streets north of the courthouse.
