North rolls to victory

Nathaly Munnicha fired an even-par 35 to win medalist honors and lead co-No. 6 Columbus North to a 150-214 win against Seymour at Harrison Lake Country Club.

Gwen Anderson carded a 37 for the Bull Dogs. Yestika Nischol added a 38. Macy Euler shot 40, Ella Wilks had a 48 and Ratisha Rashmil finished with a 49.

Crusaders get first win

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus Christian picked up its first win of the season a 5-0 shutout at Horizon Christian.

Isaac Ridder scored two goals, and Ethan Nickerson, Nathan DeFriece and Grant Young all had one for the Crusaders (1-2). Owen Reed, Aulaya Taylor, Ridder and DeFriece had assists.

Garrett Spurgeon played the first 57 minutes in goal before being injured. Bryce Young stepped in to play in goal for the first time and preserved the shutout.

“We had to play a man down for a long time tonight because of a red card and an injury,” Columbus Christian coach Tim Tallent said. “Both our junior high boys scored, and our junior high girl assisted, so I’m really proud of them. Our defense was rock solid all night long, and our keepers made save after save.”

Eagles drop opener

NASHVILLE —Brown County opened its season with a 9-1 loss to Martinsville.

The game was tied 1-1 midway through the first half before the Artesians took control. Ricky Stanley scored the goal for the Eagles.

Martinsville outshot Brown County 18-7. Wyatt Fox recorded nine saves.

North falls in 3

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus North came close in the first set, but Perry Meridian claimed a 25-23, 25-16, 25-20 victory.

Madi Roop led the Bull Dogs (2-4) with 11 kills, 11 digs and three aces. Reagan Kane recorded 26 assists, Madison White had six blocks and Grace Chapman served three aces.

Also for North, White pounded 10 kills and Sarah Bennett added six kills. Chapman tallied 10 digs, and Ava McKinney had six digs and two aces.

Columbus Christian wins

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus Christian rolled to its second win in as many games, a 25-4, 25-9, 25-8 victory at Horizon Christian.

Hannah Stair recorded 10 kills, nine digs and one ace; Madison Henderson posted eight kills, nine digs and six aces; Kayla Jones had three kills, 14 digs and 11 aces and Emily Stair added three kills, 12 assists, five digs and five aces and to lead the Crusaders

Also for Columbus Christian, Kinidy Morgan notched one kill, two digs and two aces. Lila Hudson contributed three digs, and Lindsey Hunnicutt pounded one kill.

Eagles sweep Lions

BLOOMINGTON — Brown County picked up its first win of the season, a 25-8, 25-13, 25-16 win at Bloomington Lighthouse.

The Eagles (1-2) served 16 aces as a team. Milly Patrick led the way with six.

Cougars down Indians

GREENSBURG — South Decatur came back from a first-set defeat to post a 24-26, 25-14, 25-16, 25-21 win against Milan.

Lana Bell led the Cougars (3-5) with 17 kills and two aces. Karma Warren notched 45 digs, and Brook Somers served two aces.

Bulldogs top Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County was competitive in a 25-19, 25-17, 25-19 Hoosier Hills Conference loss to New Albany.

The Panthers fell to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the HHC.

Jackets sweep Lancers

MORRISTOWN — Edinburgh was competitive in the second set, but came away with a 25-15, 25-20, 25-16 Mid-Hoosier Conference loss at Morristown.

Gracie Crawhorn led the Lancers (2-8, 0-2) with five kills, four digs and an ace. Alyssa Funkhouser recorded nine assists, Malkia Willard had two blocks and Jessica Walsh and Carly Cowan each added four digs.

Trinity tops Waldron

SEYMOUR — Class A No. 2 Trinity Lutheran had little trouble in a 25-9, 25-18, 25-6 win against Waldron.

Sydney Jaynes pounded 15 kills, Bailey Reynolds recorded 20 assists, Ruthie Bingham had two blocks, Stella Kleffman notched 20 digs and Bailey Tabeling served three aces to lead the Cougars (2-1).

Also for Trinity, Kennedy Hoffman tallied 10 kills, and Bingham added seven kills and 10 assists. Kamzi Gross contributed eight digs.

Devils blank Panthers

JEFFERSONVILLE — Jeffersonville scored three goals in each half in handing Jennings County a 6-0 Hoosier Hills Conference loss.

The Red Devils outshot the Panthers (1-3, 0-2) 19-5. Grace Ramey recorded 13 saves.

Stars edge Panthers

BEDFORD — Jennings County won the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles matches, but Bedford North Lawrence took the other three positions to claim a 3-2 victory.

Owen Law beat Adam Tlustek 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for the Panthers (2-4). Jacob Vogel and Justin Ramey downed Konley Woodward and Cameron Gratzer 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.

Jennings’ Connor Euler fell to Steven Graham 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, and Gage Gasper lost to Graham Turner defeated 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Alex Leach and Greyson Jackson fell to Caleb Jones and Nate Pemberton 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Braves best Lancers

EDINBURGH — Brownstown Central won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win at Edinburgh.

Max Blandford fell to Ethan Isaacs 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Travis Jones lost to Ethan Davis 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Chase Littlejohn fell to Cole Shasteen 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Lancers (1-1).

Edinburgh’s Cash Cunningham and Trevor Moon lost to Reece Carlin and Griffin Stidam 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Ian Buchanan and Braedyn Johnson fell to Grant Elliott and Bryce Reaser 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
