Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies said a 5-year-old is in serious but stable condition in an Indianapolis hospital after being found unresponsive in the family’s swimming pool on Saturday.
Deputy Sgt. Andrew Whipker was sent to the 5000 block of Somerset Lane at 6:03 p.m. Saturday about the 5-year-old, deputies said.
On arrival, Whipker observed the juvenile’s father performing CPR. Whipker assisted with life-saving efforts until medics arrived. The juvenile was transported to Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis by Lifeline helicopter.
Investigators said it appeared the boy left the residence unnoticed by family members and was believed to be in the pool for about five minutes.
