Columbus police investigating armed robbery at drug store

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a Columbus pharmacy early Thursday morning.

Officers were sent to Walgreens, 2400 Beam Road, at 5:10 a.m. Thursday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Police have released a description of the suspect as a white male, slender build wearing a blue face covering, flannel shirt, gray sweatpants and dark shoes, who entered the pharmacy and stated he had a firearm, Harris said.

The man then fled the pharmacy on foot a short time later with an undisclosed amount of money, Harris said.

Detectives are continuing their investigation and asked that anyone with information about the case contact police at 812-376-2600. Tips and information may be submitted anonymously.

CPD is being assisted by the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department in the investigation.
