CRH: COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to decline

By Andy East

The number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 at Columbus Regional Hospital continued to decline over the past week, with no patients hospitalized as of Friday morning.

Friday marked the 23rd consecutive day that the number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 at CRH was in the single digits, the hospital said. The last time COVID-19 hospitalizations were in the double digits was Aug. 26, when 12 people were hospitalized.

Last Friday, there were four patients hospitalized with COVID-19.

CRH officials, however, urged local residents to not let their guard down despite the decline in hospitalizations as of recent.

“In addition to the celebration at the lower numbers over the past several days, we want to thank the community for its continued efforts to slow and limit spread,” said CRH spokeswoman Kelsey DeClue. “Those efforts need to continue, especially as flu season will overlap with COVID this year.”
