Hammel gets No. 800

No. 13 Columbus North gave coach Kendal Hammel his 800th career victory Tuesday night with a 5-0 win against No. 28 Jeffersonville.

The Bull Dogs (11-1) led 2-0 when darkness set in, and the lights at their courts would not work. So they went inside to Tipton Lakes Athletic Club to finish.

Nathan Lin beat JJ Boyles 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Matthew Liu downed Max Fisher 6-3, 6-7 (4), (10-6) at No. 2 singles and Joseph Kloepfer topped Jaden Wells 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles for North.

The Bull Dogs’ Amrit Kar and Anvay Atram defeated Charley Williams and Alex Kelley 7-6 (7), 7-5 at No. 1 doubles. Luke Enneking and Eric Stavnheim outlasted Jordan Wells and Reggie Wllis 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 at No. 2 doubles.

Eagles sweep Arrows

NASHVILLE — Brown County won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 Western Indiana Conference win against Sullivan.

Josh Miller beatHouston Ferree 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Aidan Burt downed Scott Fusco 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Noah Cochran topped Drew Baker 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (9-7, 5-3).

Brown County’s Nolan Patterson and Eli Sichting defeated Jared Couch and Koby Wood 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Spencer Blee and Austen Deckard edged Noah Kinkaid and Dillon Grub 7-5, 7-6 (6) at No. 2 doubles.

Lancers nip Cougars

EDINBURGH — Trinity Lutheran won the doubles matches, but Edinburgh swept the singles matches to claim a 3-2 victory.

Max Blandford beat Ryan Kleman 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, Travis Jones downed Cameron Gruenwald 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Chase Littlejohn topped Henry Hall 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Lancers (6-5).

Trinity’s Solomon Hall and Nathan Voelker defeated Cash Cunningham and Ian Buchanan 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Luke Pollert and James Thomack outlasted Trevor Moon and Braedyn Johnson 6-7 (3), 6-2, (18-16) at No. 2 doubles.

East downs Red Devils

Columbus East and Jeffersonville were tied 1-1 at halftime, but the Olympians netted a pair of second-half goals to post a 3-1 victory and move within one win of a Hoosier Hills Conference title.

Alana Dwenger scored two goals, and Abby Miller had one goal and one assist for the Olympians (9-4, 6-0). Kathleen Soedel added a assist.

East outshot the Red Devils 21-6. Anna Liimatta recorded three saves.

Owls blank Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County was tied with Seymour 0-0 at halftime, but the Owls scored twice in the second half to post a 2-0 victory.

Seymour outshot the Panthers (5-8, 1-6) 19-2. Tori Lee recorded 13 saves.

Panthers edge Bull Dogs

BLOOMINGTON — Columbus North fell to Bloomington South 1-0, but fortunately for the Bull Dogs, they had wrapped up the Conference Indiana title on Saturday.

On Tuesday, the Panthers scored the game’s lone goal in the 43rd minute.

The Bull Dogs (4-4-4, 3-1-1) outshot Bloomington South 12-7, putting one shot on goal to the Panthers’ two. Colvin Iorio recorded one save.

Jets post shutout

MORRISTOWN — Aleck Lopez and Cameron Scott scored goals to lift Hauser to a 2-0 Mid-Hoosier Conference win at Morristown

Carlos Cuevas had an assist for the Jets (4-6-2, 2-2). Carter Scott posted six saves.

SHELBYVILLE — Hauser remained unbeaten in the MHC with a 25-21, 16-25, 25-16, 25-17 win at Southwestern (Shelby).

Hannah Johnson led the Jets (12-5, 3-0) with 22 kills and five aces. Aunaka Wasil recorded 36 assists, Kenzie Bostic had five blocks, Andie Clark notched 33 digs and Adriana Musillami served five aces.

Also for Hauser, Charlie Clark tallied nine kills and 15 digs, Kenzie Bostic pounded eight kills and Marnie Schwartzkopf added five kills. Sophia Musillami posted two assists, Johnson and Wasil each had one block, Kyra Meister contributed 20 digs, Adriana Musillami added 10 digs and Wasil served four aces.

CLOVERDALE — Brown County posted a 25-10, 25-14, 25-17 Western Indiana Conference victory at Cloverdale.

Londyn Koester led the Eagles (8-7, 2-3) with 15 digs and four aces. Mary Rygiel pounded 11 kills, and Abigail Bowman recorded 16 assists.

Also for Brown County, Lauren Akles notched nine kills, and Abigail Angebrandt added six kills and two aces. Rygiel served three aces.

Mohawks top Cougars

GREENSBURG — South Decatur came close in the final set, but Waldron held on for a 25-18, 25-12, 26-24 MHC victory.

Lana Bell led the Cougars (5-10, 1-3) with 10 kills, one solo and one assist block and 15 digs. Ali Jameson recorded six assists, and Brook Somers served two aces.

Also for South Decatur, Savannah Bushhorn tallied five kills and two digs, Lily Rigby notched four assists, Somers posted an assist block and two digs and Jameson added one ace.

Trinity routs Tigers

CROTHERSVILLE — Class A No. 1 Trinity Lutheran had little trouble in rolling to a 25-2, 25-4, 25-6 win at Crothersville.

Kamzi Gross led the Cougars (18-3) with eight digs and 16 aces. Kennedy Hoffman pounded eight kills, and Bailey Reynolds recorded 18 assists.

Also for Trinity, Bailey Tabeling notched seven kills, and Stella Kleffman added four kills, seven digs and four aces. Sydney Jaynes had four kills, Kiley Zabel tallied six assists and Ruthie Bingham served four aces.
