North wins outright title

BLOOMINGTON — No. 13-ranked Columbus North already had clinched at least a tie for the Conference Indiana title, but won it outright Thursday with a 4-1 win at Bloomington North.

Nathan Lin beat Nick Shirley 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, and Matthew Liu downed Nate Abdullah 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles for the Bull Dogs (12-1, 5-0). Amrit Kar and Anvay Atram topped Jeff Richards and Mason Ross 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Luke Enneking and Eric Stavnheim blanked Casey McIntire and JT Storm 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Coumbus North’s Joseph Kloepfer fell to Seth Force 2-6, 7-5, (10-8) at No. 3 singles.

Eagles top Lancers

NASHVILLE — Edinburgh won the No. 1 singles match, but Brown County took the other four to post a 4-1 victory.

Josh Miller beat Trevor Moon 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Jack Sichting downed Chase Littlejohn 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (9-7). Brown County’s Noah Cochran and Spencer Blee topped Cash Cunningham and Ian Buchanan 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and John Oliver and Austen Deckard defeated Braedyn Johnson and Austin Brockman 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

For the Lancers (6-6), Max Blandford beat Nolan Patterson 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.

Olympians down Cubs

MADISON — Columbus East led only 1-0 at halftime before pulling away for a 4-1 Hoosier Hills Conference win at Madison.

Chris Quisenberry netted two goals, and Kevin Galindo Sanchez and Brody Copas each added one goal for the Olympians (4-2-5, 3-0-1). Logan Cline had two assists, and Copas and Ben Romig each added one assist.

East outshot the Cubs 25-4. Pete Coriden recorded one save.

Owls blank Panthers

SEYMOUR — Jennings County was without two key starters and dropped a 2-0 HHC match at Seymour.

Draegan Ison posted 26 saves for the Panthers (4-8-1, 0-6).

VOLLEYBALL

Jets fall to Cougars

SEYMOUR — Class A No. 1 Trinity Lutheran handed Hauser a 25-12, 25-13, 25-15 defeat.

Kennedy Hoffman led the Cougars (20-3) with 11 kills and three blocks. Reynolds recorded 34 assists, Elly Carter notched 16 digs and Ruthie Bingham served four aces.

Also for Trinity, Sydney Jaynes pounded eight kills and two blocks, and Bingham added seven kills and one block. Stella Kleffman tallied 12 digs and three aces, and Reynolds posted 12 digs and two aces.

For the Jets (12-7), Marnie Schwartzkopf recorded five kills and one ace, and Hannah Johnson had two blocks and one ace. Aunaka Wasil notched 14 assists, and Andie Clark tallied 18 digs.

Also for Hauser, Johnson pounded four kills, and Bostic added two kills and one block. Charlie Clark posted eight digs, and Wasil and Adriana Musillami each had seven digs.

Woodmen sweep Eagles

GREENWOOD — Brown County was competitive in a 25-19, 25-21, 25-18 loss at Greenwood.

Mary Rygiel recorded nine kills and six digs, and Abigail Bowman had 12 assists and three aces to lead the Eagles. (8-8). Abigail Watson notched one block and four kills.

Stars topple Trinity

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran overcame an early 2-0 deficit to tie the match at 2-2, but Bedford North Lawrence pulled away for a 5-2 victory.

Kailene Cockerham and Emma Myers scored goals for the Cougars (4-4), who were outshot 26-10. Genesis Munoz recorded 15 saves, and Samantha Enzinger added six saves.
