WHERE DOES YOUR MONEY GO? The Where Does Your Money Go? Free online program will guide participants through the creation of their spending and savings plan and provide practical resources for them to use in their own lives. The six-module course includes videos, interactive activities, self-assessments and downloadable spending tracking forms. The program is self-paced and can be completed at the viewer’s convenience. Participants should allow approximately four to six weeks to complete the modules and associated activities. After completion of the course, participants will understand how current money management practices affect financial security, how to establish good financial management practices and new habits that create personal financial security. Best practices that will be explored and discussed include identifying spending leaks, categorizing needs vs. wants, tracking expenses and establishing written financial goals. KIWANIS INCREDIBLE DUCK SPLASH, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 10, Mill Race Park, 50 Carl Miske Drive, Columbus. For the 17th year in a row, there will be the annual Kiwanis’ Incredible Duck Splash. Due to COVID-19, some of the usual activities are scaled back. Safer selling practices will be practiced, and the actual drawing will be taking place outdoors. Ducks are available for adoption from any local Kiwanis member at Midwest Computer Solutions (3028 State St., Columbus), and from any participating “Duck Buddy” youth organization listed at www.kducks.com. One duck cost $5 to adopt, and discount packages are available for multiple adoptions. Ducks will also be available for adoption at the Duck Central tent at Mill Race Park by Round Lake from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 10. The first 100 people who arrive will receive a coupon for a free Dilly Bar from the Downtown Dairy Queen. The big attraction will be seeing some of our ducks dropped from a helicopter, courtesy of Columbus Helicopter at 12:30 p.m. Prize winners will be announced between 1:30 and 2:00 p.m. Winners do not need to be present to win.

The Tony Stewart All-Star Circuit of Champions Three-Quarter Midgets will run races on at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds. GREAT COLUMBUS CAMPIN, All day, Oct. 17 and 18. You may have camped out but have you ever camped in? Join in for the annual Great Columbus Campout, but with a twist. This year’s Great Columbus CampIN will be in a box. These boxes contain everything a family needs for a fun and educational outdoor-focused weekend. Inside each box there are prepared instructions, materials, and meals. There are also engaging, educational and fun outdoor-themed activities for the whole family, prepackaged ingredients for campfire meals and interactive videos that will be posted at Columbus, IN Parks and Recreation on Facebook. The themes are art, science, physical activity, exploration, engineering, culinary arts, and survivalist. PARK OF THE LIVING DEAD, 7 to 8 p.m., Oct. 17, Mill Race Park, 50 Carl Miske Drive, Columbus. Do you have what it takes to survive an evening in the Park of the Living Dead? Mill Race Park will be overrun with zombies. As survivors, it is your job to secure shelter, find food, train with a weapon, gain access to medical supplies and ultimately create the cure. Starting at 7 p.m., every 10 minutes, a group of humans will embark on their evening run to different stations to accomplish these essentials of survival and to find the cure. You will receive a map, and you may visit the stations in any order you choose, but the last station you visit must be “the cure”. The “Balthazar Korab: Photographer of Architecture” exhibit continues in Gallery 506, black and white historic photos of iconic Columbus architecture. “Avenue of the Architects,” an exhibition by Ball State students in architecture and historic preservation began July 1. During September, Hoosier Artist Gallery is featuring the art of painter Carina Larsson and ceramicist Della Wood. Larsson, who is from Sweden, paints engaging portraits of horses, woodland animals, and humans with soft abstract backgrounds in acrylics or oils and cold wax.
