There will be one last event at North Vernon’s Tripton Park before crews move in to prepare the park for the winter months.
The City of North Vernon will present a free Back In The Day Rock-and-roll concert in the Tripton Park Amphitheater Saturday beginning at 7:30.
The event is open to the public and free admission into the Amphitheater will begin at 6 p.m.
Mask and distancing rules will be followed.
Bring your own chairs and blankets.
There will also be a beer garden and food venders available.
North Vernon Parks Department Director Chad Speer explained while Tripton Park will be open to the public throughout the winter, facilities that use water will be closed by the end of October.
“You will be able to come in and walk around and enjoy the park but there will not be restrooms available after Halloween,” said Speer.
“This has been a tremendous season for the Parks Department. It has all been a very positive year but now we have to get busy making everything ready for winter,” he said.
Speer explained in addition to all the usual summer park activities throughout the City, both Tripton Park and the new North Vernon Aquatic Center officially opened for the first time this summer.
“Our park crews and staff were extremely busy but I feel both the pool center and Tripton Park helped our community return to feelings of some normalcy. When it was time to open the pool, there was a lot of concern about COVID-19 but we did not have a single COVID-related issue the whole two months the pool was opened,” he said.
“I am very proud of our community leaders for investing the time, emotions and money for the Aquatic Center, Tripton Park and other Park’s activities to help our community’s quality of life in these difficult times,” said Speer.
