SEYMOUR — The Seymour Chamber of Commerce is hosting a public debate between the candidates for the Indiana District 69 House of Representatives seat Tuesday.
The debate will begin at 6 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 118 E. Second St., Seymour and will be livestreamed by The Tribune on its Facebook page.
Incumbent Republican Jim Lucas and Independent Katrina “Kat” Hardwick have agreed to participate. Democrat Jeffery Prewitt will not be debating, according to a post on his campaign Facebook page. All three candidates are from Seymour.
The debate will be moderated by Dan Robison, president of the chamber, and Arann Banks, executive director of the Jackson County Visitor Center.
Questions will be submitted by various community leaders throughout Jackson County.
The chamber has a record of being involved with such events in the past, having organized a Seymour mayoral candidate’s forum in 2019.
The event will be open to the public, but COVID-19 precautions will be enforced, including spacing between seating, face masks and a limited capacity of 80 people. To secure a spot, pre-register at seymourchamber.com.
