Eagles win sectional opener in four sets
ELLETTSVILLE — Brown County opened play in the Edgewood Sectional with a 25-18, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21 win against South Vermillion.
Milly Patrick led the Eagles (11-10) with 21 digs and seven aces. Lauren Akles pounded 11 kills, Natalie Suding recorded 20 assists and Abigail Watson had one block.
Also for Brown County, Mary Rygiel notched 10 kills and 14 digs, Watson had 10 kills and Patrick added seven kills. Abigail Bowman tallied 12 assists and 13 digs, and Suding posted 10 digs.
The Eagles will play Class 3A No. 4 Brownstown Central in the semifinals at 11 a.m. Saturday. The sectional final is at 7 p.m. Saturday.
