In 1997, the Veterans Memorial Committee could not think about the maintenance and repair work that would be required in 2020 to keep the columns of the Bartholomew County Memorial for Veterans looking its best.
There were freeze-thaw fractures in many of the lower limestone pieces that did not look good. The Bartholomew County Commissioners worked with DLZ Engineering to determine what work needed done to prevent future fractures. The commissioners and DLZ came together with a refurbishing plan and that work was recently completed and I wanted to report that the memorial is back in "like new" condition.
This is a very special place for veterans and others to visit and find peace, and be at peace with the memories of all who have served our country. We owe them our gratitude and thanks. With that thought, I wanted to give a special thanks to our Bartholomew County Commissioners who made these repairs possible. Thank you.
