Around Town – October 16

Orchids to …

• Logan at Kroger who was so polite and friendly and loaded my groceries into my trunk, from a senior citizen lady.

• William Jones for his letter.

• the E-Town Fire Department for the excellent stop on the 400S field fire and to all neighbors who chipped in with tractors and discs and manpower.

• the staff working the early voting polls for an efficient set-up with great service.

• every woman around the country who is strong enough to think for herself, Nasty Women are awesome.

• President Trump for his leadership.

• my father, who is neither weak nor ignorant, who taught his daughter to be outspoken and stand up for what’s right and take the high road, so I could be a Nasty Woman.

• all the strong men who stand with Nasty Women for equality and justice.

• Voelz Body Shop for a great job well done, from Marie.

• those who know the name Nasty Women was given by the federal elected official pretending to run the country.

• anyone willing to run for township trustee in the next election.

• people who believe abortion is a grave evil.

• President Trump, who opposes giving free Social Security benefits to illegal aliens.

Onions to …

• being less safe today than we were prior to 2016, whether it is coronavirus or the violence.

• those going to rallies, superspreader events, not wearing masks, putting their lives and the lives of their loved ones at risk, in order to see a reality television show host.

• local shop owners employing an unethical family member.

• the writer claiming the candidate is immoral, the highest form of hypocrisy.

• the political movement ruining professional TV sports.

• the local candidate who openly lied about supporting public education.

• local elected official who doesn’t have a clue what it means to be a feminist.

• local elected official giving play-by-play commentary on the taxpayer’s dime.

• the federal elected official who thinks rules and laws are merely suggestions that need not apply to him.

• the current administration for making mask-wearing political instead of mandatory as we have more than 217,000 American deaths from this pandemic, and we are nowhere near the end.

• the state official infected with COVID-19, proving your silly masks do nothing.

• the person claiming to be a local nurse, telling people online that masks don’t work.

• the political party running a dementia sufferer and an unqualified back-up.

• those who know the “Nasty Women” name was chosen by the federal elected official because that’s what he calls any strong, independent woman who calls him out on his lies.

• the letter about how Catholics should vote.

• those against a socialist government but still expecting handouts from the government.

• teachers who complain online that we shouldn’t be in school but travel to Disney for fall break and don’t self-quarantine or report their travel upon returning.

• the federal leader holding a rally in Iowa, which is one of several states where the virus is spiking.

• those who have forgotten history that the electors were to be free to choose a president independently so that a demagogue would not be selected as president — party politics now dominates.

• the local elected official saying he is going to come after those who didn’t vote for his pension.

• poor governmental leadership, premature economic re-openings and individuals acting irresponsibly.

• the federal government and elected officials and whoever else is responsible for holding back our mail.
