The number of patients hospitalized at Columbus Regional Hospital with COVID-19 closed out the week slightly lower than last week, despite briefly creeping into the double digits earlier this week for the first time since late August.
A total of six patients were hospitalized at CRH on Friday morning, down three from the previous Friday, the hospital said.
One of the patients was listed in critical condition on Friday morning, with the remaining five in stable condition.
Three of the patients were Bartholomew County residents. The other three were residents of Jackson, Johnson and Jay counties.
On Oct. 11 and 12, there were 10 and 11 patients hospitalized, respectively, at CRH with COVID-19, ending a streak of over a month of fewer than 10 hospitalizations that began Aug. 27. The last time there were double-digit hospitalizations at CRH was Aug. 26, when 12 patients were hospitalized.
Hospitalizations for COVID-19 have climbed across much of the state in recent weeks, according to the Indiana State Department of Health.
There were a total of 1,311 people hospitalized in Indiana with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 infections as of Thursday, according to ISDH.
While that was a decrease of 44 from the day before, it was still 580 higher than on Sept. 12, when there were 731 hospitalizations across the state, according to ISDH.
This past Monday, statewide hospitalizations reached 1,357, the highest since May 13, when there were 1,381 people hospitalized, state figures show.
