I have seen with my own eyes many shoppers, in many places, in Columbus who are not wearing masks or social distancing properly; and no one is asking them to leave the store or requiring them to comply with the governor’s orders in any way.
The mask mandate is being ignored in many big box stores that are very popular in Columbus and Bartholomew County as well as many convenience stores. The management of these stores are acting in neglect of the governor’s orders and action needs to be taken to rectify the situation ASAP.
The local health department should take action upon receiving complaints of this nature and residents should call them and complain constantly and loudly until something is done. If these businesses are shut down for two or three months maybe they will learn to follow the rules. I would hate for anyone to lose their jobs or income because of this, but employees are the ones who should complain the loudest because the management of these neglectful businesses is putting their health at risk.
The state of Ohio has advised residents of the risks of traveling to Indiana because COVID-19 is not being addressed nearly as progressively as it should be and Chicago is warning residents who travel to Indiana they will be required to quarantine for up to 14 days upon returning.
If we stay on this path all of Indiana is going to be back on lockdown before Christmas. That means many more weeks of lost income, lost business revenue and more time stuck inside and not being able to travel anywhere. I’m pretty sure no one wants that. If we could all just follow the rules we might be able to get back to normal, but this includes all businesses as well.
