Myers tests positive for COVID-19

Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers said Friday morning he has tested positive for COVID-19 and will continue quarantining as his family members now go to be tested.

The sheriff’s department said he had mild symptoms. Myers said Friday he is continuing to experience body aches and other symptoms of the virus and continues to feel under the weather.

BCSO Chief Deputy Maj. Chris Lane is monitoring the overall operations of the department, supervising staff and to reporting daily to Myers.

Currently, the sheriff’s department Road Patrol Division is at full capacity. Two Correction Officers are in quarantine but no other staff members or inmates are showing any signs of symptoms.

Lane said there have been no further sheriff department employees on quarantine at this time.
