Five area youth win DAR Good Citizens award

Five area students have been named Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens.

The program is open to all seniors enrolled in an accredited public or private secondary school.

The student selected as each high school’s DAR Good Citizen must exhibit the qualities of dependability (truthfulness, loyalty and punctuality); service, (cooperation, courtesy and consideration of others); leadership (personality, self-control and ability to accept responsibility); and patriotism (unselfish interest in family, school, community and nation).

The 2020-21 Good Citizens are:

Madison Henderson, (Columbus Christian)

Vanessa Brookes (Columbus East)

Hannah Franklin (Columbus North)

Emma Edwards (Columbus Signature Academy New Tech)

Maylee Barriger (Hauser)

Franklin was chosen to participate in the state level of the DAR’s scholarship contest.
