Sisterhood raises scholarship money with drive-thru fundraiser

Members of PEO BM hold a drive-thru fundraiser on Waterside Drive last week.

Staff Reports

COVID-19 forced a local group to get creative in its fundraising efforts this fall, but the final results were a tremendous success.

P.E.O. Sisterhood BM Chapter, a local chapter of an international women’s organization that focuses on providing educational opportunities for female students, recently raised $5,000 for scholarships by holding a drive-thru fundraiser.

Since they could not meet this year due to the virus, P.E.O. Sisterhood BM held a drive-thru service on Waterside Drive in Columbus on Nov. 12.

The group sold box lunches for $5, as well as other baked goods, and also held an outdoor auction.

All of the transactions took place at car windows.

Event organizer Janet Sharpe said organizers were pleased with the turnout, and that all attendees and workers wore masks during the event.
