JENNINGS COUNTY — Jennings County Sheriff deputies arrested a North Vernon man accused of battery against a 2-month-old female who suffered serious injuries.
Chief Deputy Dave Turner said investigators arrested Buddy Wayne Woods, 22, North Vernon, on Monday on charges of battery of a juvenile under the age of 14 resulting in serious bodily injury, neglect of a dependent, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
The investigation started on Dec. 10 after Child Protective Services contacted investigators with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office stating that a 2-month old female had been taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. During the course of four days, investigators interviewed potential witnesses and collected evidence which eventually led to Wood’s arrest, Turner said.
Woods is being held in the Jennings County Jail in lieu of $25,555 bond.
