State: 3,978 additional Hoosiers diagnosed with COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health said 3,978 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 468,219 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

A total of 7,101 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 31 from the previous day. Another 337 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by the state and occurred over multiple days.

To date, 2,533,672 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 2,523,679 on Sunday. A total of 5,288,642 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26.

Bartholomew County reported 5,021 positive tests (up 55) with 77 deaths (no change) as of Sunday.

Surrounding counties reported:

Jackson County: 3,505 positive cases (up 35) with 41 deaths (no change).

Jennings County: 1,577 positive cases (up 19) with 27 deaths (no change).

Decatur County: 1,941 positive cases (up 10) with 62 deaths (up one).

Shelby County: 3,066 positive cases (up 28) with 69 deaths (up one).

Johnson County: 10,694 positive cases (up 110) with 208 deaths (up one).

Brown County: 617 positive cases (up four) with eight deaths (no change).
