Lois Danforth, 82, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:48 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Our Hospice Inpatient Facility in Columbus. She was born on December 6, 1938 in Bronx, New York, the daughter of Edward Isreal and Freda (Abrams) Goldstein. She was raised in California and has been an Indiana resident since 1960. Lois had worked at the Heritage House Nursing Home and also worked at the Decatur County Hospital. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in North Vernon. Lois enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and gardening. She married Edwin A. Danforth in Burbank, California on December 16, 1960 and he preceded her in death on June 4, 2003. Survivors include her daughter, Tina Marie Ledger of San Diego, California; her son, Edwin Arthur Danforth, Jr. of Shreveport, Louisiana; her sisters, Frankie Sorenteno of San Diego, California and Cathy Murphy of North Vernon, Indiana, her 3 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin Danforth; her daughter, Sylvia Kay Danforth: her sister, “Trudy” Gertrude Rosetta Mandy Mitchell; her brother, Rickie Goldstein. The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in North Vernon. The burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. We ask all visitors to follow social distancing guidelines once inside the church and masks are required.
