Barbara Jean Dugan, 85, of 18th Street, Columbus, died peacefully at 12:10 p.m. December 26th, 2020, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Barbara was born January 13, 1935, in Seymour to parents Nicholas & Leona Speckner Vogel. She married Dr. Thomas P. Dugan on Sept. 28, 1957.

She St. Vincent School of Nursing early in life and later earned a bachelor’s degree from IUPUI in 1996.

A devoted Catholic, Barbara was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Over her 85 years of life, she was loved deeply by her family & many friends. She defined the word self-less, always thinking about others before herself & caring for those who needed her. Barbara’s lifelong passion was caring for her family. She loved playing tennis, gardening, and attending daily Mass. She was the rock of the family and a spiritual inspiration to all who knew her. She tirelessly instilled the Catholic faith into all her children, always leading by example.

Survivors include sons, Michael G. (Sara) Dugan of Bradenton, Florida, Gregory T. Dugan of Zionsville, Paul F. (Mary) Dugan of Carmel and Joseph K. (Moira) Dugan of Indianapolis; daughters, Anne M. (Jim) Collins of Cincinnati, Mary D. McCorkle of Carmel and Dr. Margaret D. (Jeff) Workman of Greenwood; a daughter-in-law, Mary Dugan (Thomas) Wood of Wooster, Ohio; sister Rita (Robert) Novick; 27 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 29, 2020, 5 to 8 p.m., at O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2020, in St. Jude Catholic Church. The Mass will be live streamed on the O’Riley Facebook page by visiting https://www.facebook.com/orileyfuneralhome/. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
