Betty E. Cain, 81, passed from this world on December 24, 2020 the much loved and respected mother of her only child, Brian L, Clark, much loved sister and aunt to her family and faithful friend to so many.

February 27, 1939 Betty E. Cain entered this world in Madison, IN as the third child of Elzie and Florence Shelton.

Betty had many things that she liked to do during her life?attend car races, visit the “boat” to play cards or slots, visit with friends at the Moose and Eagles, shop garage sales and antique shops in search of “treasures”. However, her true passion during her 81 years was FAMILY?attending weekly family dinners when her parents was still alive, taking younger siblings on trips to Florida and later in her life attending events in which her nieces, nephews and even great nieces and nephews participated.

Betty will be well remembered by her family as a woman of great strength of character. As a child she was taught “The Golden Rule” and followed it all of her days. She showed courage in the midst of life’s trials and losses. She was gracious and kind in all circumstances even as she faced the loss of her own physical abilities. She would see a need?physical, financial or emotional?and work to meet that need always supporting the family in her efforts. She endured much during her adult life and never asked much in return. She was no whiner, instead she met obstacles looking for the best way to continue to “move forward” to common sense solutions.

Survivors include her son, Brian (Rita) Clark of Columbus; siblings, Gerald “Buddy” Shelton of Mount Summit, Sara “Sue” (John) Burton of North Vernon, Michael (Sandra) Shelton of Deputy and Lorena (Darrel) Sipe of Concord, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lois Meyer and a sister-in-law, Barbara Shelton.
