HOPE – The Yellow Trail Museum and Visitors Center, 644 Main St. in Hope, will remain closed for the remainder of the winter.

Although the museum’s board of directors had opted to reopen the first full week of April, the facility may have to remain closed for a longer period if mandated by state guidelines.

Besides the museum and visitors center, the facility’s research center has also been closed for an expansion and remodeling, board member Jessica Deckard Brown said. In addition, the historic discussion group “Sunday Socials” will not meet this winter, she said.

Just a few years ago, the outlook was good for the museum and visitors center in Hope. Beginning in August 2018, a grant from the Columbus Area Visitors Center was able to pay for a full-time employee, museum director Lizzie Flora, who could keep the Hope Visitors Center and research center open year-round, Brown said.
