COLUMBUS
Owen Edward Pace, Sr., 78, of Columbus, passed away from this life on Wednesday December 30, 2020 at his home with his family.
Mr. Pace was born February 22, 1942 in Kodak, Kentucky, the son of Vernon Pace and Delcie Craft Pace. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He married Barbara Fleenor on December 26, 1964. After his service was completed in the Army he followed his family to Indiana, but in his heart, Kentucky was always home. He retired from Cummins Engine Company where he worked for almost 30 years. After retirement he focused on his two great loves; his family and Jesus. He was an Elder at the Church of the New Covenant in Austin, Indiana. Owen played harmonica and sang in the church choir and with his family whenever they were together. His hobbies were playing golf, watching football and being outdoors. He loved to help his neighbors and lend a hand to anyone in need. He also adored his only grandchild, Hannah.
Survivors include his daughter, Trish (Randy) Lawson; granddaughter, Hannah Lawson; siblings, Benny (Cheryl Jean) Pace, William (Wanda) Pace, all of Columbus, Joe (Peggy) Pace of Freetown, Judy (Art) Brown, Betsy (Mark) Lambert, both of Columbus, Vauldra (Ron) Baily of Westport; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Owen E. Pace, Jr.; brothers, Jerry Pace, Gary Pace; niece, Karla Pace and nephew, Dennis Brown.
A private visitation and funeral service will be conducted at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Past Jacob Howell officiating. Due to pandemic restrictions, we are limited to 50 people in our funeral home. We do ask that visitors follow the social distancing guidelines once inside the funeral home and masks are required.
Burial will be at Old Becks Grove Cemetery in Freetown. Full military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
