COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus and Bartholomew County are celebrating a 200th anniversary this year.

A new organization called the Columbus Area Bicentennial Commission has launched a year-long celebration. Their mission will be to connect the community’s past, present, and future with the unifying theme of “Common Ground”.

Over the next 12 months, the Bicentennial celebration will include events, initiatives, and conversations focused on celebrating the common ground local residents share as neighbors and friends.

Due to the current public health guidelines, organizers emphasize the early parts of the celebration will be mostly online. The launching of a new website – columbusarea200.com – provides such things as a historical timeline, event calendar, blog, and engagement opportunities.
