HOPE – Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corp. is set to begin the new semester with a return to in-person learning on Monday, according to Superintendent Shawn Price.
Price sent out an announcement on Friday evening reminding parents of the planned return and of COVID-19 protocols. He added that there is still a virtual option available for students.
Flat Rock-Hawcreek will continue using the same protocols and mitigation strategies established in its reopening plan, which can be found on the school corporation’s website.
“Students will continue to be required to wear masks, practice social distancing, and wash hands frequently,” Price said in his letter.
He added that families should continue to report “all student illnesses” to school health officials, and parents are required to report COVID-19 positive results immediately. Quarantine timelines are the same as they were before winter break.
Once in-person learning resumes, the school corporation will resume posting weekly “snapshots” of its COVID-19 cases and referrals related to reopening protocols, he said.
Price’s letter also included a reminder about changes to the school calendar that will occur in order to make up the late start to the semester, which was originally set to begin on Jan. 5.
The changes are as follows:
- Jan. 18: Make-up day for Nov. 16
- Feb. 15: Make-up day for Jan. 5
- March 8-10: Make-up days for Jan. 6-8
- March 11 and 12: No school or possible snow make-up days
- March 14-21: Spring break, no school
