Columbus woman arrested for auto theft

A Columbus woman was arrested after she was spotted driving a stolen vehicle on Friday night.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Griffa Avenue in regards to a person wishing to report their vehicle was stolen, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Harris said the owner of the vehicle advised officers that he had left it running in the driveway for a couple of minutes before it was gone.

The stolen sport utility vehicle was observed at a convenience store in the 200 block of N. Gladstone Avenue later that evening, Harris said.

Harris said a witness reported that Kaliegh R. Stogdill, 29, of 431 N. Dellasburg Road, Columbus, had exited the stolen vehicle and went into the store.

Officers located Stogdill a short time later, and she was taken into custody.

Stogdill was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail, where she was remanded on a preliminary charge of auto theft.
