What happened at the Capitol last week was, in my opinion, a parting message from a president that has no idea that this great country is about the people.
For the past four years, Mr. Trump has tried to run the country like it was one of his hotels. He has shown over and over again that it was "my way or the highway." That is evidenced by the fact that he fired numerous officials that he appointed that didn’t agree with everything he said.
For the past four years, he has tweeted out his lies and conspiracy theories — all of which have no substance.
But his cult hold on his blind supporters were taken for gospel.
He recently tweeted that this was "the greatest first term presidency in the history of the United States." I disagree. I think it was the worst four-year term for any president.
I don’t know where to start.
In 2016 he lost the popular vote, but won the electoral vote. The Democrats accepted defeat and graciously gave him a smooth transition of power.
This year he lost both the popular vote and the electoral vote and has fought the results with dozens of law suits claiming fraud. This is when Republicans increased representatives in the House. But Republicans won elections in states where he lost the vote.
That, in itself, should tell Mr. Trump he has done a miserable job of being president.
He has alienated many of our allies and withdrawn the U.S. from many of the world’s important, unified efforts to make the world a safer place to live. He gave huge tax breaks to the rich that many of them did not want and his minuscule tax breaks for the average person were offset by disallowing deductions to charity; subsequently causing less donations to deserving charities.
Last, but not least, he incited an assault on Capitol Hill during the electoral counting of the ballots causing at least five people to lose their lives.
Mr. Trump has always been for one thing and one thing only: Donald Trump.
I am glad it is finally over and that we can look forward to the next four years of healing and putting back together again what America is really about.
Working together as ONE nation for all the people to make this a better nation.
My hope is that all that Mr. Trump has broken in the last four years can be fixed quickly.
