Robert John Kunzman, 70, of Columbus passed from this life unexpectedly at Columbus Regional Hospital at 11:34p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.
Robert “Bob” was born on October 25, 1950 in Newark, New Jersey to Lillian Winifred (Johnson) Kunzman and Phillip J. Kunzman. After becoming a single mother, Lillian bravely moved Bob and his sister to live with relatives. Eventually, Lillian married the love of her life, Charles (Chuck) Harris Mullins, who was instrumental in raising Bob.
Bob attended Purdue University and graduated in 1975 majoring in visual design and minor in photography. In 1986 Bob began working at The Republic where he worked until his retirement in 2012. He was a great admirer of art, and his eye and ease in toning photographs for publication in The Republic were nominated and won several awards.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Beth of Columbus; his two sons from a previous marriage to Sue Lindborg, Ian (Katrina) Kunzman of Merriville and Sean Kunzman of Fort Wayne; step-children, Matthew (Leah) Arrington of Nineveh, Melissa (Josh) Sinclair of Whiteland, and John (Myra Perez) Arrington of Columbus; sister, Pat Klein; grandchildren, Aydan, Tyler, Ava, Ellie, and Cooper; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his step-father, Charles “Chuck” Mullin.
Mr. Kunzman gave a selfless gift of organ donation and in keeping with his wishes cremation will take place.
Due to concerns about COVID, the family will plan a memorial service at a later date.
Services have been entrusted to Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the Bartholomew County Humane Society through the funeral home.
