East sweeps Jennings
Columbus East swept a dual meet from Jennings County on Tuesday, winning the boys meet 128-52 and the girls contest 123-52.
Brady Beyer led the East boys with wins in the 100-yard butterfly (56.37 seconds) and 100 backstroke (57.84). Other individual winners for the Olympians were Chad Kelly in the 200 freestyle (1:56.56), Branson Young in the 200 individual medley (2:15.66), Elias VanCuren in the 50 freestyle (25.47), Connor English in the diving competition (184.55), Dathan Wolf in the 100 freestyle (53.20), Mason Curry in the 500 freestyle (5:23.81). East also swept the 200 medley (1:53.39), 200 freestyle (1:45.71) and 400 freestyle (3:34.82) relays.
The Panthers’ Danny Hoffman won the 100 breaststroke (1:11.36).
For the girls, East’s Ellie Proffitt won the 200 IM (2:12.14) and 500 freestyle (5:37.16), and Marin Wieneke took the 50 freestyle (25.96) and 100 freestyle (57.57). Gabbie Meier won the diving (210.35), Caroline Andress took the 100 butterfly (1:12.10), Josie Havenaar captured the 100 backstroke (1:09.75) and the Olympians swept the 200 medley (2:08.06), 200 freestyle (1:53.59) and 400 freestyle (4:05.00) relays.
Jennings’ Tatum Brown won the 200 freestyle (2:13.05), and Reagan Brown took the 100 breaststroke (1:13.63).
BOYS BASKETBALL
Jets fall to Indians
MILAN — Hauser was within 28-24 at halftime, but Milan pulled away for a 70-52 victory.
Frankie Poole and Koby Johnson each scored 11 points to lead the Jets (6-7). Bryce Bates added nine.
Christel nips Crusaders
INDIANAPOLIS — Trailing 48-35 after three quarters, Columbus Christian rallied to within one, but Christel House Academy held on for a 56-54 victory.
Cody Kiefer led the Crusaders (9-9) with 16 points. Gabe Ridder and Jacob Conrad each added 10.
Tigers edge Lancers
EDINBURGH — Class A No. 6 Edinburgh led by five points in the second quarter, but Lawrenceburg hit two 3-pointers in the final 30 seconds of the first half and went on to post a 49-46 victory.
Landen Burton led the Lancers (10-4) with 10 points. Caleb Dewey and Isaac Roberts each added nine.
Patriots top Eagles
SPENCER — Owen Valley jumped out to a 42-16 halftime lead and went on to hand Brown County a 75-37 Western Indiana Conference defeat.
Travis Ely led the Eagles (1-5, 0-4) with 15 points. Dalton Hedrick added eight.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Pirates ground Jets
HOPE — Greensburg jumped out to a 35-18 halftime lead and went on to hand Hauser a 69-39 defeat.
Kyliegh Parrott led the Jets (7-12) with 11 points. Adrianna Musillami added eight.
