Redevelopment commission chooses two companies for court services center

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus will work with two companies on the county’s new court services center.

The Columbus Redevelopment Commission voted to accept recommendations to engage Dunlap & Co., Inc. and Barth Electric Co., Inc., of Indianapolis, for the project.

Redevelopment director Heather Pope said that Dunlap’s bid amount for general and mechanical work was $3,425,000, and Barth Electric’s bid for electrical work was $237,670. The total of the two bids is $3,662,670.

Pope said that the redevelopment commission will need to request approval from city council for the expense of the two contracts. The request is expected to go before the council on Feb. 2.

Project architect Steve Risting, along with David Doup, who acts as an owner’s representative and project manager for the county commissioners, reviewed bids for the project. Risting presented their recommendation — to hire Dunlap and Barth Electric — to the redevelopment commission.
