INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health today announced that 2,389 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 624,959 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.
A total of 9,592 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 43 from the previous day. Another 375 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by the state and occurred over multiple days.
To date, 2,949,445 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 2,940,233 on Friday. A total of 6,976,408 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26, 2020.
Bartholomew County reported 6,798 positive tests (up 34) with 102 deaths (no change) as of Saturday. The county has a designation noting there is a large outbreak at the Bartholomew County Jail which has affected its positive case rate.
Surrounding counties reported:
- Jackson County: 4,366 positive cases (up 18) with 48 deaths (no change).
- Jennings County: 2,040 positive cases (up five) with 38 deaths (no change).
- Decatur County: 2,538 positive cases (up 10) with 83 deaths (no change).
- Shelby County: 4,318 positive cases (up 19) with 82 deaths (no change).
- Johnson County: 15,513 positive cases (up 63) with 298 deaths (up one).
- Brown County: 903 positive cases (up one) with 35 deaths (up one).

As of today, 551,527 Hoosiers have received a first dose of vaccine, and 137,823 are fully vaccinated.
