GIRLS BASKETBALL

Crusaders win SRC tourney

Columbus Christian swept a pair of games Saturday to capture the Southern Roads Conference Tournament title for the second consecutive year.

The Crusaders beat Dugger Union 68-32 in the morning. Kayla Jones led the way with 31 points, 10 rebounds and five steals; while Sarah Lorimor scored 12 points and Madison Henderson added 11 points, six rebounds and seven steals

In the afternoon, Columbus Christian downed Cannelton 45-21. Jones recorded 23 points and 13 rebounds, Lorimor added eight points and 14 rebounds and Madi Blair had 13 rebounds.

Lancers edge Saints

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh pulled out a 42-41 win against Indianapolis Lutheran to close the regular season.

Gracie Crawhorn led the Lancers (7-11) with 15 points. Annelise Lollar added 12.

Cougars stop Shiners

RISING SUN — South Decatur trailed Rising Sun 27-26 at halftime before rallying for a 51-43 victory.

Lana Bell led the Cougars (6-15) with 21 points. Erynn Dyer added 14.

Panthers top Eagles

NASHVILLE — Bloomington South tuned up for Tuesday’s first-round sectional matchup with Columbus North with a 52-40 win at Brown County.

Abby Fleetwood led the Eagles (7-6) with 25 points.

BOYS SWIMMING

East second in HHC

FLOYDS KNOBS — Columbus East came as close to winning the Hoosier Hills Conference title as it has in 38 years, finishing second with 221 points to 247 for host Floyd Central.

The Olympians won five events. Brady Beyer took the 200-yard individual medley (1 minute, 58.54 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:00.56) and Mason Curry captured the 100 butterfly (53.87). Beyer and Curry teamed with Dathan Wolf and Chad Kelly to win the 200 medley (1:41.57) and 400 freestyle (3:23.10) relays.

Wolf also finished second in the 100 backstroke (58.24). Kelly took third in the 50 freestyle (23.15) and fifth in the 100 freestyle (50.96) and Branson Young was fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.49).

Jennings County finished eighth with 52 points. Noah McFall took seventh in the 500 freestyle (5:25.21), and Danny Hoffman was eighth in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.12).

Olympians take fourth

BLOOMINGTON — Columbus East finished fourth out of eight teams in the Bloomington South Invitational. Bloomington North won with a 107.45, followed by Martinsville (104.75) Bloomington South (101.225) and the Olympians (100.3).

Elise LaSell led East with a fifth-place finish in the all-around with a 34.375. She placed third on the floor (9.4) and sixth on the bars (8.4) and tied for 10th on the vault (8.3)

Cami Warren finished seventh in he all-around with a 33.375. She took eighth on the floor (8.825) and tied for 10th on the vault (8.3).

Shelby Kendrick placed ninth in the all-around with a 32.525. She was ninth on the floor (8.775) and 10th on the bars (8.05).

BOYS BASKETBALL

Jets fall to Batesville

HOPE — Hauser led 11-10 after one quarter, but Batesville rallied for a 53-38 victory.

Bryce Bates led the Jets (8-9) with 23 points.

Tigers top Crusaders

CROTHERSVILLE — Columbus Christian led 22-20 at halftime, but Crothersville rallied for a 54-43 victory.

Jacob Conrad led the Crusaders (13-10) with 16 points. Garrett Spurgeon added nine before leaving in the second quarter with a sprained ankle.

Lancers down Hornets

HENRYVILLE — Edinburgh led only 26-21 at halftime before pulling away for a 55-39 win at Henryville.

Caleb Dewey led the Lancers (14-4) with 16 points. Isaac Roberts added 12.
