Asher Ratliff finished seventh at 113 pounds in last weekend’s Indiana Middle School State Wrestling Championships.
Ratliff, a seventh-grader at Northside Middle School representing the Columbus North Wrestling Club, went 6-2 in the event held at Fort Wayne Coliseum. He had finished sixth at 95 pounds last year.
Evan Saevre, an eighth-grader at Central, also competed for the Columbus North Wrestling Club at 132 pounds.

Squirts sweep Swords
Columbus Flames Squirt A swept Cincinnati Swords 3-0 and won 4-0. Brooks Larsh led the Flames with four goals and two assists. Carter Davis and Carter Harris each netted one goal and one assist, Henry Schloemer scored one goal, Aaron Warble had 3 assists and Keaton Grube added one assist. Canyon Long was in net with a save percentage of 100%.
Columbus Flames Squirt B played Owensboro Puckhogs and tied 5-5 and lost 4-2 and fell to Indy Fuel White 6-3 and 9-2. Logan Barringer led the team with three goals and two assists. Cooper Ross, Bentley Hampton and Garrett Uy all scored two goals; Nolan Sparkman netted one goal and one assist; Maximiliano and Luke Getchell each scored one goal; Lukas Jozsa and Noah Doig each had two assists and Hallie Mudd, Jonah Broadrick and Luis Taqueshi all added one assist. Cayden Long was in net three games with a 77.46 save percentage, and Knox Coen was in net one game with a 61.11 save percentage.
Columbus Flames Bantams lost to the Bloomington Thunder AA team 3-0 and 3-1. Dane Weinzapfel scored the goal off assists from Westin Davis and Jack Warble. Zach Goggins and Jackson Wheatley were each in net 1 game.
Columbus Icemen fell to Carmel Gold 2-0. Jake McMullen was in net with a 94% save percentage.
BASKETBALL
Panthers take first loss
The Jennings County seventh-grade boys White team endured its first loss of the season Monday, a 47-32 setback against Bedford.
Cash Millspaugh led the Panthers (5-1) with 14 points. Luke Alexander added 10.
