Locals qualify for finals
Columbus North senior Riddhi Garg put herself in position to qualify for the Girls Swimming State Finals by putting up the fastest qualifying time in the 50-yard freestyle in Thursday’s preliminaries of the North Sectional.
Garg swam 24.91 seconds in the 50 freestyle and also had the second-fastest time in the 100 freestyle (55.27). Only the winners in Saturday’s finals and those making the state-cut standards automatically qualify for next weekend’s state meet.
Also for the Bull Frogs, Paige Maddox qualified third in the 500 freestyle (5:39.86) and fifth in the 200 freestyle (2:07.74), and Adeline Rush was third in the 100 backstroke (1:01.68). Brooke Meek qualified fourth in the 200 freestyle (2:07.71), and Paige Sherlock was sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.88). North qualified third in the 400 freestyle relay (4:00.35).
Columbus East’s Ellie Proffitt qualified fourth in the 200 individual medley (2:21.50) and 100 butterfly (1:01.95), and Marin Wieneke was fourth in the 50 freestyle (25.31) and 100 breaststroke (1:11.79). The Olympians qualified third in the 200 freestyle relay (1:46.75).

Panthers win in OT
NEW ALBANY — Jennings County won its second overtime game in four days with a 66-62 Hoosier Hills Conference victory at New Albany.
Carson McNulty led the Panthers (8-6, 2-1) with 19 points. Jacob Vogel added 10 points and 13 rebounds, and Owen Law had 10 points.
Franklin tops Trinity
FRANKLIN — Trinity Lutheran saw its two-game winning streak come to an end with a 69-58 loss at Franklin.
Jack Marksberry led the Cougars (5-11) with 20 points. Hudson Norton scored 13, and Tyler Goecker added nine.
