SEYMOUR

Larry Joe McDonald was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend to many. He passed away on February 4, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy.

Larry and his wife, Sandy, recently celebrated their 50-year wedding anniversary. He loved spending time with the family they built and felt blessed by their 3 children and 10 grandchildren. “Pap” cherished his family and poured his heart and soul into them. He often joked and laughed with them, allowing for each grandchild to create a unique and special connection with him.

Larry’s lifelong dream was to open a music store, and 20 years ago he chased that dream by opening This Old Guitar Music Store. As a drum and guitar instructor, he impacted the lives of many young aspiring music students with his compassion for music and love of teaching.

He took pride in serving his community, and one of his greatest accomplishments was his contribution to the completion of the John Mellencamp mural in downtown Seymour. Larry was proud of the mural and the town he called home for 68 years and enjoyed sharing its rich history and favorite local spots with many out-of-town visitors.

Larry was a member of Seymour High School Class of 1970.

Larry was born in 1952 to Shirley McDonald and Ethel (Cole) McDonald in Seymour, Indiana.

On December 13, 1970, Larry married the love of his life, Sandra Revalee in Seymour at the First Baptist Church.

Larry is survived by his wife, Sandy, sons Gregory McDonald and Matt (Angie) McDonald and daughter Kristin (Travis) Campbell. 10 grandchildren, Cassie McDonald, Sydney Campbell, Brady McDonald, Cloie McDonald, Cyrus Campbell, Aden McDonald, Norah Campbell, Karalyn McDonald, Emerson McDonald and Abby McDonald. Brother Ron (Sharon)McDonald and sisters Kathy (Jerry) Prevatt and Jenny (Sinclair) Wheeler, mother Ethel McDonald, and mother-in-law JoAnn Revalee.
