COLUMBUS, INDIANA

Robert Paul Raia, 54, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 10:36 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at his home.

Robert was born October 14, 1966, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of the late Rosario D. and Louise J. Neidhamer Raia.

For 18 years, Robert has been a design engineer at Toyota Industrial Equipment Manufacturing. He attended Westside Community Church. Robert was an avid music fan, especially live music and was a huge fan of Van Halen and Sammy Hagar. Robert attended Carb Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for many years and this is where he met his wife, Abby. He was a big fan of the Indianapolis Colts and he enjoyed fishing. Robert will be remembered most for his selfless actions, humor and bigger than life personality.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Abby, whom he married October 4, 2014; children, Shelby Raia of Paragon, Indiana and Joseph (Isabel) Raia of Fernley, Nevada; his granddaughter, Magnolia Dawn who is expected to arrive in July 2021; sister, Mary (John) Payne of New Palestine, Indiana; and brother, James Raia of Mooresville, Indiana.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Rosario and Louise Raia and brothers, Donald and Thomas Raia.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Dennis W. Aud officiating. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. A live stream of the funeral service may be viewed at 11 a.m. Tuesday at barkesweaverglick.com. Due to pandemic restrictions, we are limited to 50 people in the funeral home, we do ask that visitors follow social distancing guidelines and masks are required.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Center at Columbus Regional Hospital.
