COLUMBUS
Neil F. Sabelhaus, 66, of Columbus, passed away at 11:25 p.m. on February 18, 2021, at home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Dr. Steve Newton will be officiating. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. till the start of the service at the funeral home. In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines, only 50 people will be allowed in the funeral home at a time and masks are required. Born on September 6, 1954, in Tell City, Indiana, Neil was the loving son of Robert and Belva (Anthony) Sabelhaus Sr. He was united in marriage to Vickie Grabbe on December 6, 1974. She survives.
Neil worked as a European Automotive Tech. He was a good Mechanic who enjoyed working on cars. Something Neil could be very proud of was how he had built his own home.
In addition to his wife, Vickie Sabelhaus, of Columbus, survivors include daughter, Deena (Kenneth) Bates of Columbus; son, Franklin (Elizabeth) Sabelhaus of Carmel; sisters, Barbara Lovegrove of North Vernon, Cindy Hunter of North Vernon, Terry “Dee” Davis of Orlanda, FL, and Frieda Lutgring of Tell City; grandchildren, Annabelle, Joseph, and Jakob Sabelhaus, Francesca, Charlotte, and Karter Bates.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Belva Sabelhaus; brothers, Robert and Mark Sabelhaus; sister, Sherryl Wheeler.
