Connie Roberta Wyrick Dunbar, 76, passed away peacefully after 3 years of battling cancer on Friday, February 19, 2021.

Connie Wyrick was born September 4, 1944, to Marvin and Jean Wyrick in Logansport, IN. Connie enjoyed spending time with her grandparents Virgil and Rosalie Clary on their farm. Her grandmother became a source of great inspiration and influence for Connie. Connie was a proud Logansport Berry. As a successful student at Logansport High School (class of 1962) she was active as a class officer, in National Honor Society, Majorette, Cheerleader and enjoyed dance competitions.

Connie married her high school sweetheart, Carl John Dunbar, September 6, 1964, and they were married 53 years. Together they raised a family of 3 children; Carla, Curtis and Cara Jo. She spent much time as a mother running her kids to practices, activities and sporting events. They lived in Columbus, IN, Milwaukee, WI and West Lafayette, IN. She attended Indiana State University and later finished her degree at Indiana Wesleyan University in 1995 graduating with a BS in Business. Connie spent most of her working years at Purdue University as an Administrative and Business Professional. She was honored with several awards throughout her years at Purdue. Connie volunteered for Purdue Chi Omega Sorority as an advisor, enjoyed stained glass, flower gardening, Purdue events, hosting friends and family in her home, cooking and activities with her children and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents as well as two granddaughters; McKenna Morrett and Nessa May Klockow. Surviving family members include sister, Marvagene Cummings (Kokomo, IN), sister, Deborah Sue Lovett (Adairsville, GA), Carl John Dunbar (Lafayette, IN); her three children: Carla Dunbar (Lafayette, IN), Curtis Dunbar (Fall City, WA), Cara Jo (Scott) Klockow (Kouts, IN); grandchildren whom she treasured so dearly: Mikayla Morrett, Grace Morrett, Dakota Dunbar-Lowe, Yohanna Klockow, Lena Klockow, Alan Josiah Klockow.

She will be missed as a devoted and loving friend, mother and “Nana”.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm on Wednesday at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway West., Pastors Dan Luce and Shane Good officiating. Interment will be at Grand View Cemetery in West Lafayette.
