Health officer Dr. Walter DeArmitt stated "Everyone should assume hepatitis A is everywhere" after a local outbreak grew to 23 confirmed cases, 16 of those since Jan. 1.

Sammie Jones, 68, of North Cherry Street, waited outside the voter registration office at Bartholomew County Courthouse for about 40 minutes in the early morning and, when the office opened, became the first official candidate for mayor of Columbus.
