COLUMBUS, INDIANA

William Dale Lucas, 63, of Columbus, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2021, with his two sons and daughter-in-law by his side.

Dale was born June 1, 1957, in Columbus, to Clinton Lucas and Dorothy Lawson Lucas of Brown County.

Dale was well known around Columbus; he worked for the City of Columbus, Handi Foods, and Marsh Supermarket on State Street. Per his wishes, Dale got to spend his last several weeks with his grandchildren, daughter-in-law, and sons at home in Taylorsville.

He is survived by his sons, Andrew Lucas of Columbus and Mark (Chelsea) Lucas of Taylorsville; brothers, Charles Lucas of Columbus, Johnny Lucas of Hope, Ricky (Penny) Lucas of Columbus; sisters, Betty Lucas-Greenlee of Seymour and Janet Skaggs of Columbus; step-siblings, Sharon (Delbert) Lucas of Brown County, Bonnie Roach of Columbus, Terrie Mathis of Columbus, and Albert Richards of Columbus; his beloved grandchildren, Haley Lucas, Rylan Lucas, Ava Dudding, Delani Lucas, Laila Lucas, Adalyn Lucas, Wyatt Lucas, Jameson Lucas, Mark Truitt, and Laquita Truitt; as well as many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dale is preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca A. Lucas; his parents, his step-mom, Alvina Richards; brothers, Ronald Lucas and Kenny Lucas; and step-siblings, Cheryl, Bob, Timmy J., Gomer and Ronnie Richards and Nina Harrison.

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2021 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastor Vincent Stallsworth will officiate. A live stream of the funeral service may be viewed at 1:30 p.m. Monday at barkesweaverglick.com. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 12:30 p.m. until service time Monday.

Dale will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family through the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses, make checks payable to Mark Lucas.
