Kenneth “Ken” William White, 90, of Columbus, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Columbus Regional Hospital.

He was owner and operator of Kenny’s Sinclair Station at Highway 31 and 23rd Street, and had retired from Arvin Meritor. Ken was also a farmer. He was raised going to the St. Louis Crossing Methodist Church. Ken served in the National Guard during the Korean Conflict.

Ken enjoyed listening to big band and country music and watching Western movies. Ken played guitar and sang while performing gospel music with his mother and siblings.

Born on September 8, 1930 in Hope, Ken was the son of Louie Everrett and Naomi Dodd White. He graduated from Hope High School in 1948. On February 3, 1951, he married Evelyn Pauline Schwartzkopf at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, of Columbus; children, Teresa (Greg) Spurling of Columbus, Debbie Bradley of Columbus, Elaine (Norlyn) Bartens of Neligh, NE, and Kathy McPeek of Columbus; grandchildren, Michael Spurling, Megan Thompson, Kyle Spurling, Alesa McQueary, Christina Pease, Ethan Bradley, Emmett Bartens, and Faron Bartens; and nine great-grandchildren.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents; brother, John K. White; sisters, Patricia “Pud” Bode and Carol Ruth “Sis” Dailey; and son-in-law, Harris Bradley.

Public visitation will be held Wednesday from 12pm to 1pm at Norman Funeral Home. A family service will follow with his son-in-law, Pastor Norlyn Bartens officiating. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
