Crusader boys, girls take close losses at NACA

DAYTON, Tenn. — Columbus Christian’s boys and girls both came away with three-point losses Wednesday on the opening day of the National Association of Christian Athletes Tournament.

The Crusader boys had a chance to tie, but missed a free throw with 7 seconds remaining. Clarksville (Tennessee) Christian then added a pair of free throws pull out a 67-64 victory.

Jacob Conrad scored 24 points, and Gabe Ridder added 23 to lead Columbus Christian (20-15). Gavin Lustig had eight.

The Crusaders have been placed in the Division 6 consolation bracket and will play Tennessee Christian Prep at 12:30 p.m. today. Win or lose, the Crusaders will play again at noon Friday.

Meanwhile, the Columbus Christian girls led by five on a couple of occasions, but Bradley Christian (Tennessee) rallied for a 42-39 win.

Kayla Jones led the Crusaders (8-6) with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Sarah Lormior added eight points and eight rebounds.

Columbus Christian has been placed in the Division 6 consolation bracket and will play Jordan (Florida) at 9:30 a.m. today.
