COLUMBUS
Michael G. Thayer, 77, of Columbus, passed away at 9:31 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Meadow Lakes Health Care in Moorseville.
Michael was born October 23, 1943, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Lester and Lorene Coles Thayer.
Mr. Thayer worked at Arvin Industries for close to 40 years before retiring. He loved fishing, bowling and duck hunting. Michael was a loyal member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #741 and the Columbus Moose Lodge #398. He looked forward to spending quality time with friends, enjoying whiskey drinks.
Survivors include his brother, James I. Thayer; niece, Tracy Thayer, both of Columbus and nephew, Randy (Nina) Burk of Elizabethtown.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marilyn L. Burk.
In keeping with the family’s request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life gathering will be held Sunday, March 14, 2021 at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles – Lodge# 741 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
