Leslie Sims’ record-setting softball career has come to a close after the Hauser graduate and Indiana State senior tore her ACL, lateral meniscus and medial meniscus in the second game of a doubleheader against Samford Saturday at Ole Miss.
Sims is leading the Sycamores with a .488 batting average and seven stolen bases. Earlier this season, she became the first player in school history to record 100 career steals.
Sims, who led Hauser to the Class A state title in 2015, holds five IHSAA records, three ISU school records and has been All-Missouri Valley Conference and All-Region during her time with the Sycamores. She was a senior last year, but came back for a fifth year after last season was cut short because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
